The Dallas Cowboys is the area's professional football team. Their current stadium is located in Irving, Texas, but they will soon make their home in Arlington, Texas. The Cowboys have competed in eight Super Bowls, pulling out wins in five of them.
The Dallas Stars is the area's professional hockey team. They play all their home games in the American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas. Although Dallas has a history of hockey teams, dating back to 1941, the team known today as the Stars did not make their debut until the 1993 - 94 season.
The Dallas Mavericks is the area's professional basketball team. They play all their home games in the American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas. The Mavs joined the NBA for the 1980 - 81 season and quickly gained top draft selections throughout the 80s. The 90s proved to be tougher years, but the Mavs are steadily stepping up the"NBA ladder."
The Texas Rangers is the area's professional baseball team. Their stadium is Ameriquest Field at Arlington. The Rangers have housed several key players in Major League Baseball including Nolan Ryan who pitched two of his seven no-hitters while he played for the Rangers. |
