Demo Existing Home
Schedule the demolition vendor to remove the existing home on the homesite. All power and gas will be disconnected at this time. Stephenson Custom Homes will execute this procedure.
Perform Soils Test
Stephenson Custom Homes will hire an outside engineer to perform a soil test prior to engineering the foundation.
Foundation Engineering
Once Stephenson Custom Homes receives the soils report we will then turn in the plan to the foundation engineer to design the foundation.
Apply For Permit
Stephenson Custom Homes will take two full sets of plans to the city of where the home is being built to apply for The Building Permit. Most cities require two sets of plans with foundation plans and framing plans stamped by the engineer. The time to receive a building permit is 1 – 2 weeks depending on the city you are building in. Once the city releases the permit Stephenson Custom Homes will start the construction of your home.
Drive, Design and Decide
During this phase, the homeowner should begin collecting photographs from magazines and from driving tours of the city. Photographs of stone and brick, window details, architectural designs and other materials that you like will make selections in Phase 3 much easier.
